Sometimes when you read something for the first time, you can hardly put it down. Ann and I do not often really share reading tastes, but we both enjoyed the Vivians series so much, that we could hardly put down the books.
Patricia Caldwell wrote the first two in the 1950s, and then three more in the 1990s and 2000s, which were privately published.
Vivians is set on the Cumberland coast, and in the first title, Prefects at Vivians, we meet the enigmatic Lesley Trevor, youngest and most surprised of the new prefect, as well as some highly enterprising members of the Upper Fourth.
Patricia Caldwell is now Patricia Turner and it is under this name that she regularly writes for fanzines such as Folly. She has written a brand new introduction to Prefects at Vivians for this GGBP edition
