Wings over Witchend sees the Lone Piners in Shropshire, where they battle against the theft of Christmas trees from the new State Forest on the Long Mynd.
The foresters, their numbers depleted by illness, are desperately trying to find out how the gang is getting the trees away. On the other side of the forest is a Gliding Station; a mysterious glider, which appears at night, plays an important part in the plot.
The Lone Piners go into action, and their magnificent teamwork, as well as the discoveries they make, greatly help the police round up the crooks. And it is not only human help: Macbeth, the beloved Scottie dog, has a major part to play.
