Set just after the four have left the Chalet School, in the Tyrol, this is not just a book about cooking—there is plenty of chat between the four girls, and it is a wonderful addition to the Chalet School series, which many fans have never read.
The Chalet Girls’ Cookbook was first published in 1953, and has never been reprinted until now, so that copies have fetched several hundred pounds on the secondhand market.
The GGBP edition has an article by Clarissa Cridland on the relationship between the three Books for Girls and the Cookbook, and Adrianne Fitzpatrick and Ruth Jolly are testing some of the recipes for the modern cook.
The Chalet Girls’ Cookbook will be published in late November 2009, and is Price Band A.
Please note that it is landscape in format (ie the top and bottom ends are longer than the sides) as was the original book, but otherwise will be the same size as our normal books.
