Coming of Age is one of those ‘key’ Chalet School titles, which sees a plethora of old girls coming to the coming of age celebrations, and includes an emotional - and exciting return to the Tyrol for Joey and the others in her quartet, accompanied by Mary-Lou and co.
There was only one hardback edition of Coming of Age and the Armada paperback edition is listed as having very major cuts.
The GGBP edition will include a short story by Helen Barber (author of A Chalet School Headmistress), and an article about Dorothy Brook (the illustrator of the hardback) with some sketches of how she worked on this book.
Carol Allan (author of Gillian of the Chalet School) has written an article on 'The Return to the Tiernsee', which explains the world events which caused that return - even for a visit - to be so long delayed.
