When a fire destroys a very small new English school’s home on the Platz, the Chalet School generously takes them in. St Hilda’s headmistress is injured in the fire, and her young mistress, Miriam Ashley, causes trouble as she becomes obsessed with acquiring the original home of the finishing branch of the Chalet School at Welsen.
One of the St Hilda’s pupils clashes with Jack Lambert on more than one occasion, and with the influence of Miss Ashley, this leads to a nasty feud among some of the girls. St Hilda’s cat, Minette, comes to play an important role, as does the second Minette who comes to live at the Chalet School.
The Feud in the Chalet School was heavily cut when it appeared in Armada paperback.
