Margaret Biggs is our only writer of school stories originally published prior to 1960 who is still alive today.
We have now republished all her original Melling titles, and are proud to publish Margaret’s brand new Melling book, Kate at Melling.
This is set about 12 years after the end of the series, and features Helen’s daughter, Kate.
Last year, Margaret read a couple of chapters from Kate to a number of enthusiasts, all of whom commented on what a wonderful story it is.
Reviews
- I read the book at a sitting - one of my favourite things! I enjoyed all the Melling books, and this one was just as good. The characters are really real - I particularly liked Kate and Becky - and the situations are believable. I was also pleased to find that my guess about what happened to the missing money was wrong (without giving anything away) because, again, it's far more realistic when what happens isn't the obvious. I would happily read any further Melling books that Margaret Biggs might like to write - I'd love to hear more about Kate, Becky and co. - and yes, that is a hint!
