We are continuing our republication of Dorita Fairlie Bruce with The School on the Moor, the first of the Toby trilogy, the others being The School in the Woods and Toby of Tibbs Cross.
After Nancy, Toby has to be one of DFB's most interesting characters - there can be few schoolgirls who interview a prospective headmistress to say they want to come to her school, and also that she is convinced that the prophet Jeremiah buried the Ark of the Covenant on Dartmoor.
