We have an extra introduction written by a member of Gwendoline Courtney’s family, and a very exciting reproduction of the letter of acceptance for publication from Nelson, her publishers.
The publishing history includes details of the very rare first edition, and since our Christmas catalogue was produced, we have discovered the dustwrapper for this (quite different to that for the 1950s-ish reprint) and also a second edition.
Set in rural Wiltshire in the mid 1930s Molly Kendrick, previously unwanted and unhappy, comes to live with her hitherto unknown family at Torley Grange and finds the happy family life she never thought would be hers.
