Chudleigh Hold is the story of Gill Culver of Chalet School fame, albeit called Arminel Chudleigh in this book.
The Chalet School Gill is a member of the second Triumverate, Head Girl and later Bill's secretary at Welsen. Elinor's portrayal of the Chudleigh Hold 'Gill' shows her in her formative years.
It is one of EBD's best family stories, featuring a large and happy family, with no parents, but an eccentric aunt, her companion, a nanny and a rather odd visitor.
