We have had so many requests to publish this that we have given in!
This is the story of Kathie Ferrars' first term as a mistress at the Chalet School, and is probably unique in all school stories, telling the story from the point of view of a new mistress.
And, how lucky Kathie was, compared to many of today's new teachers! It is also an important book in the Chalet School canon, and although was published in several Armada paperback editions, was very badly cut.

- Thanks so much for my copy of New Mistress! I've never read this gem with the full text: it's wonderful - all those lovely extra passages, with fascinating detail and much clearer characterisation! The travel chapters are so interesting - and funny, too, from a late 20th/early 21st century perspective.
