The Right St John's
First published in 1920, The Right St John’s came out when Christine Chaundler was writing at her best, and it is a splendid story of an ‘outsider’ in the school. Jacqueline Brown has to go to a boarding school for the first time in her life, at the age of 16. She is an engagingly honest and straightforward heroine, and the way in which she makes new friends and overcomes the enmity of some of the other girls is realistically portrayed. Mary Cadogan has written a new introduction appraising the book, and there is also an article by Sally Dore, and an affectionate remembrance by Christine Chaundler’s niece. The book also includes the original four colour plates, as well as a colour frontispiece depicting the pictorial boards from a later edition. GGBP published The Right St John’s in November 2007. The Right St John's went out of print in September 2011.
