The Chalet School and Rosalie comes after Tom Tackles the CS. It was probably written for The Fourth Chalet Book for Girls but this was never published and so Rosalie was published in paperback by Chambers. For this reason the first edition is incredibly scarce. It was later published as an Armada paperback, first of all on its own, and then again together with Mystery. Now, it is published again now together with Adrianne Fitzpatrick's long short story, A Slippery Slope.
“Look after my daughter, please. She has never been to school before, and I see you are a pupil of the Chalet School.” And so tomboyish Tom Gay found herself in charge of timid Rosalie Way. At first, the new girl hates the boisterous ways of the school and, when Tom thoughtlessly offends her, sparks fly! But eventually, after a hair-raising escapade, Tom and Rosalie are reconciled at the half term fancy-dress party and Rosalie settles down to a happy life as a Chalet School girl.
A Slippery Slope
We learn in Rosalie that Nancy Chester had missed the whole of the previous term because of an accident. Adrianne Fitzpatrick offers an explanation:
The winter holidays have been blighted by floods, restricting Nancy and her brothers to the house for much of the holidays. When they are finally released from confinement, they are ripe for adventure and mischief. An unfortunate consequence of their exploits sees Nancy confined to the house for much longer than she could ever have anticipated.
The Chalet School and Rosalie with A Slippery Slope was published on 23rd August 2016.
