Description

Elinor Brent-Dyer’s three Evangelical titles are all quite short, and so we are able to include all three in one volume.

In Nesta Steps Out, we learn that Nesta’s hair-trigger temper was something to be treated with caution. One Sunday morning, the minister read for his text, “He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city”. Nesta got a terrible shock as she listened to some of the possible consequences of unbridled temper! She eventually leans the secret of self-control.

Beechy of the Harbour School introduces us to Beechy, who had become a Christian before starting school but had told nobody. She was having difficulties with Olive who was constantly causing trouble, and had to learn the hard way that only when we pray to Him and have the courage to confess Him, does Jesus give us the strength we need to meet life’s difficulties.

Rosemary is the Leader in Spite of Herself who wins a prize given to the girl who has tried hardest to help others, living up to her beliefs as a Christian.

Some people love Evangelical books, others do not. But these are by Elinor Brent-Dyer and so a must for all fans.

Ruth Jolly will be writing the introduction. You can also find out more about Evangelical School Stories in The Encyclopaedia of Girls School Stories.

The Evangelical Books will be published in April or May
