Jane Carew has never been to school before and runs into trouble in the shape of Jack Lambert, who bullies her and ensures that her life is not easy at school, until Len Maynard stops the bullying. Jane becomes popular after she takes the lead role in a play performed by Va for their Evening. She is a great success and reveals that her parents are famous actors. Jack still finds it hard to be friendly to Jane but a tragic accident draws them together. The term ends with the Sale and a second performance for Jane, as well as some happier news.

For our introduction, Adrianne Fitzpatrick has written an article on Plays, Pageants and Pantos.
