The Hoodwinkers

Tamzin, Meryon, Rissa and Roger discover that Jim Decks is once again up to  his nefarious activities. This time, he is hoodwinking innocent Americans who are convinced that Jim’s old boat belonged to William the Conqueror. They need to woo Jim away from this into a more honest line of business. The discovery by Rissa of the drowned village of old Winklesea gives them the idea that Jim could take trippers to see the ruins, charging so much a head. But how can they afford an engine for the boat? And can Jim be persuaded to adopt the idea? That does seem a problem, until Hookey Galley gets the same idea. Meryon and Tamzin’s new relationship is slightly upset over a difference of opinion as to Jim’s honesty, and Roger and Rissa want to spend as many weekends as possible at Punchbowl Farm. But they all fling themselves with energy into sorting out Jim’s problems, as do Diccon, Butterbeans Pope and Mrs One-Who-Knows. Click here to see some pages from The Hoodwinkers. GGBP published The Hoodwinkers in October 2008. The Hoodwinkers went out of print in January 2011.

A Wind is Blowing

Tragedy strikes the deepening friendship between Tamzin and Meryon when something happens to him while he tries to prevent a bank raid. Tamzin does her best to keep him up to date with all the local news, including the machinations of Mrs Venus, the poison-pen writer, and the mysterious movements of Jim Decks. But then hope comes almost from nowhere, and the Fairbrass family and Tamzin have an eleventh hour dash to Spain. Click here to see some pages from A Wind is Blowing. A Wind is Blowing is the final Romney Marsh title, and the one of which Monica Edwards was the most proud of writing. In addition to the usual articles, the GGBP edition has A Personal Introduction by Sally Bourne. No more here, but this is one of the most moving introductions to any book, and it has made me carry a particular card. Clarissa GGBP published A Wind is Blowing in October 2009. A Wind is Blowing went out of print in February 2011.
