CS 56 Two Sams at the Chalet School by Elinor Brent-Dyer

£13.00

CS No 56

Two Sams at the Chalet School was published by GGBP in 2008, so 18 years ago. It is reprinted now having consulted with those receiving the Friday e-newsletter.

The blurb on the dustwrapper of the original hardback (and on our previous edition) states that: Samantha van der Byl, an American girl, and Samaris Davies, a Welsh girl, arrive at the Chalet School at the beginning of the second term. (our italics). What seems to be meant is the second term of the school year, not the second term of the School’s existence! To continue:

Although there is a two-year difference in their ages they immediately become firm friends. Joey Maynard is intrigued by their unusual names, and Samaris’s interest in music diverts Nina Rutherford after her accident and helps Baby Phil over a bad patch. The two have many adventures, not the least being Samantha’s acrobatics with Minette, the school cat. There is a big surprise for the two Sams at the end of the story.

Helen Barber wrote an excellent article ‘Home, Sweet Home at the Chalet School’ for our 2008 edition which we are including, and she is now writing a brand new short story to go with this new edition.

Two Sams at the Chalet School will be published in September / October.
